The best thing I like about this place is their sustainability mission. They recycle/upcycle used shoes to reduce the impact of plastic shoe materials to the environment. Not many places in Madison have this service. The people work there are very friendly and helpful. We got shoes we like with a discount👍

Absolutely A+ as specialty running stores go. This place manages to blend the 1970s charm of an original running store with a modern approach to the gear that today's Runners need. The place is well staffed with runners on both local high school teams and Runners who compete for the Badgers. They know their way around running shoes and they have Gear For All Seasons to help compliment you're running. Highly recommended Have you joined running club yet? Join the Movin Shoes running group. Great group of people. Seriously, come run with us

I went there twice while solo in Madison on work trips. I wanted to run, but didn't know the area and it was dark in January, so I googled local run clubs and MovinShoes popped up. Both times I went everyone was super nice and I love that they almost always have a run club going on

Movin Shoes is the place to go! The friendly, very knowledgeable staff (many of them runners) can answer all your questions and they will work hard to fit you in the shoe that’s best suited for you!

It’s more than a shoe store, it is a community with deep roots. Once you walk into the store, you’ll be promptly greeted and taken care of. All staff are knowledgeable, kind and ready to make sure you get exactly what you need. If you are unsure of your shoe preference, they will watch you walk and can get an idea of what will suit you best. They’re all experienced runners as well and fun to share running stories with. Movin’ Shoes first opened on State Street in 1973 and has been the foundation of the Madison running scene since. There are group runs five days a week that leave from the store. They own and operate In Focus Timing that you will see at many local runs. You can bring in your old running shoes for them to recycle. The return policy at the store is incredibly generous and guarantees that you will be satisfied with your purchase. Whether it’s your first, fifth or fiftieth pair of running shoes, you’ve gotta go to Movin’ Shoes.

I visited Movin' Shoes on a Saturday afternoon and I was blown away by the knowledge and level of service I received. I was greeted immediately and Michael came to help me right away. I have some issues with my feet (supported by custom orthotics) and lower back. Michael knew exactly what I was talking about when I told him the issue with my feet - I've had to give detailed explanations in the past at other stores. After watching me walk, Michael came back with three different shoe options to try. I was allowed time and space to try the shoes on (with and without my orthotics). When I explained what I didn't like about a certain shoe, more options were presented that addressed what I didn't like about previous shoes. I was also told to say "stop" when I had seen enough options or when I made my choice. I didn't feel pressured or swayed. I ended up buying the perfect pair of shoes for me! I love that Movin' Shoes is locally owned and operated, I love their staff and their inventory. I cannot recommend this lovely business enough!

They sold me a pair of shoes that fit me better than any pair I’d ever worn. 3 days later I showed back up, with my feet in a shape they’d never been allowed to be in before, no longer able to wear the shoes comfortably because my feet had changed so much. They let me return the shoes I’d worn 3 days even though I didn’t have my receipt and exchange them for a pair that was $20 cheaper.

I don’t normally do reviews but for this one, I have to. I came to this store in desperation because I had been buying multiple pairs/brands of shoes in the bigger chain stores just trying to find something that didn’t kill my feet. I’m not a runner but I am on my feet all day and walk a ton for work. When the sales lady asked me what brands I preferred, I had no answer. I just told her about my standing and walking habits for work and I told her my feet hurt so bad and I need help. I definitely didn’t give her much to work with. She came out with two different brands and the first pair I tried was great and then I tried the second pair and they were heavenly! For the first time, just standing there, I had no pain! They were comfortable, supportive and so cushy and springy with every step, I didn’t even feel like I was standing on my feet. I was so excited, as soon as we got home I wanted to give them a test. We took the dogs and kiddo for a walk around town for about an hour and I couldn’t stop gushing about how comfortable my feet felt. I’m so excited to wear them to work tonight and not have any pain! I gave the sales lady very little information to work with to help me find the right shoe and she nailed it. I got a brand I’ve never tried before, the Saucony Ride 19. Thank you so much!
